Mobile contracts are usually a necessary part of having a cell phone.  Most phone companies want their customers to sign a two year contract, but under increasing pressure from consumers the largest cell phone providers are offering more flexible plans.  Business mobile phone contracts may offer better rates than personal contracts, although this will depend on the nature of service provided.

For example, many mobile contracts are now for a period of one year instead of two years.  Some phone companies have even offered their wireless plans on a month to month basis.  This flexibility can be good, especially if you are not sure if you want to keep the same cell phone for the next two years.  If there is any question about you changing phones, then a month to month plan is a good choice.

Mobile contracts that are two years or longer may have several advantages, though.  One is that cell phone companies typically offer a discount on the cost of service or another incentive such as a free cell phone.  Large wireless providers sometimes give a $50 or $100 discount on the price of a new phone if a customer will agree to a two year contract.  Business mobile phone contracts usually offer similar terms. If you do not plan on moving, you should consider taking advantage of one of these mobile contracts.
